Unique, inspiring and young, that’s what the men of The OhnO! Jazz band are like. And most importantly they have an impressive repertoire. These fourteen guys, who live for music, really know how to sweep you of your feet. When the show starts it will only take a few moments to get you up and dancing. A variety of jazzy styles will do that to you. In other words: an 'OhnO!' jazz party!

History

Well we can't really talk about a history, can we?

Inspired by other jazz bands from the region, a young group of friends started their own Jazz band in September 2001. And oh dear, it wasn't as easy as it looked! Weekly rehearsals and remembering all the chords was not just something they had to do. They had to do it perfectly. They knew that they had to work very hard to make sure that their Jazzy sound would be just as inspiring for you as it is for them.

In August 2002 on a beautiful summers day after one year of practicing and rehearsing and doing whatever needed to be done, the day finally came. The OhnO! Jazz band performed on the terrace of their own Jazzy café ‘Pol's place for Jazz'. From this moment on The OhnO! Jazz band is here to stay. The playlist gets bigger and bigger and requests for their show are getting more and more. You can see The OhnO! Jazz band on various festivals not only in the Netherlands but also in other countries.

Music

The playlist of The OhnO! Jazz band is a mixture of the ‘Old Style', Dixieland, swinging blues rhythms and the real deal when it comes to street parade Jazz. And because these guys breathe the music the make and play, a Funky tune once in a while is well known to The OhnO! Jazz band.

The OhnO! Jazz band exists of fourteen musicians. The band is the proud owner of two trumpet players, who really set the tone. Two alto saxophones and one tenor saxophone, which gives the music that they play a beautiful and warm sound. This section makes sure that there are nice riffs and many-voiced parts. Talented trombonists who can sometimes be quite surprising with their slides. Not too forget their nimble-fingered clarinettist who makes a jolly sound. Then of course the two banjos and sousaphone, "the walking bass" and the beating heart of it all; the rhythm section which completes The OhnO! Jazz band.

How can you recognize The OhnO! Jazz band? If you hear the stunning sounds of jazz music, when you look around you and when you see pink blazers and beige-brown trousers with stripes all over them, you will know it's them. Follow them and you will certainly have a great time!
